LDH confirms 477 total deaths due to COVID-19, 13,010 confirmed cases

There are now 13,010 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Louisiana, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The Louisiana Department of Health also reported that there have been 477 deaths total in the state from the novel coronavirus, an increase of 68 since the department released its previous numbers on Saturday.

The numbers, released daily at noon on the Louisiana Department of Health’s coronavirus dashboard, also indicated that 1,803 people are currently hospitalized in Louisiana as a result of the coronavirus and 561 of those patients are on ventilators.

Region 2, one of nine “regions” in the state as divided up by LDH and which contains East Baton Rouge Parish, is currently using 54% of its 237 ventilators.

During his coronavirus-focused press briefing on Friday, Governor John Bel Edwards claimed that not enough Louisiana residents were complying with his “Stay at Home” order.
