After seeing the need for masks and gloves amid the coronavirus pandemic, the local Chinese community has started collecting these items to donate to Baton Rouge General Hospital.
“We believe the virus will be controlled if everyone works together,” said Yao Zeng, Ph.D, a coordinator in the Physics and Astronomy Department at LSU. Zeng is also a member of Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome’s International Relations Commission and Women’s Advancement Commission.
So far, the group has collected 350 N95 masks, and is looking for more donations to send to the hospital soon. According to Zeng, they have ordered some masks from China that will also go directly to the hospital.
