Local district court judge tests positive for COVID-19

Coronavirus

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – District Court Judge Richard “Chip” Moore has the coronavirus, according to the Committee to Re-Elect Judge Chip Moore.

This message was posted on the Committee to Re-Elect Judge Chip Moore page on Friday evening:

“Hello friends.

I’m having a hard time keeping everyone updated, so I figured it best to update with a post. First of all, I’m completely overwhelmed with the outpouring of love, concern and prayers for our family. I had no idea we were so loved by so many, and I am humbly grateful to all of you who have reached out in one way or another.

Chip is stable in icu. He is on oxygen and experimental meds. The doctors are trying hard to keep him off the vent. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer, so please keep them coming full force! Chip’s mom and I are slowly mending. #slowly. Mar is positive and also is symptomatic with high fever and flu like symptoms. Please pray for our girl. Niall is negative🙏🏻. We are waiting on Travis’ results, but he is asymptomatic presently. Mac and T as well. This virus is HORRIBLE!!! Please do everything possible to protect yourselves and others.

God Bless!”

Moore graduated from the Southern University Law School as well as LSU.

Judge Moore has been a lawyer for 19 years and a District Court Judge for over 15 years.
