BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern University named Prairie View A&M’s Eric Dooley its 20th head coach in school history, Monday morning.
Dooley led the Panthers to their first SWAC Championship Game appearance since 2009, and the 2021 season was Dooley’s best record-wise, finishing 7-5.
The new Jags’ head coach was a wide receivers coach on Pete Richardson’s staff, and he helped the Gold and Blue win two Black College Football National Championships in 1997 and 2003.
I sat down with Richardson to discuss his former assistant taking over on the Bluff and what the move means for the Jaguars.
