City of Baker offering free ice and details about storm debris collection

BAKER, La. (BRPROUD) – On Wednesday, September 1, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., the City of Baker is giving out two bags of ice.

If you are still without power, come on out and get some ice at Baker High School.

The City of Baker is also asking residents to start putting storm debris on their curbs.

The city hopes to begin collecting the storm debris on Labor Day.

Details about the storm debris collection can be found below:

The City of Baker is coordinating the pick-up of storm debris related to Hurricane Ida and anticipates removal crews beginning as early as Monday, 6-September-2021.

Please place debris curbside without blocking roads, mailboxes, garbage cans or ditches so as to ensure all services may resume as efficiently as possible.

Please be aware of downed power lines if you reside in an area where electrical services are not yet restored and do not attempt to move debris if there is a downed power line involved.

Also please be aware that there is a heat advisory for the area and be prepared to take breaks as temperatures increase throughout the day.
