Score Recap: Australia vs. US women’s basketball quarterfinals

SAITAMA, Japan (BRPROUD) – The United States moves on to the semifinals after beating Australia in the quarterfinals.

Breanna Stewart scored a few crucial points in the first quarter which allowed the United States to gain the momentum needed to take a lead against Australia.

The United States blazes through the first quarter, 26-12.

Feeling the pressure, the Australians attempted to catch up in the second quarter but lost their short-lived lead to the Americans. The second quarter ends with the U.S. in the lead going into halftime, 48-27.

The United States team continued their lead and ended the third quarter with a total score of 68-39.

Stewart and Brittney Griner guided the U.S. team diligently throughout the entire game. Their aggressive approach on the court made it difficult for Australia to keep up.

Final Score: 79-55
