United States men’s basketball beats Spain in quarterfinals

SAITAMA, Japan (BRPROUD) – The United States had a slow start but by the second half, they gained points on Spain, winning the quarterfinals game.

Starters on the United States team: Damian Lillard, Kevin Durant, Jrue Holiday, Edrice Adebayo, and Devin Booker.

Starters on Spain’s team: Rudy Fernandez, Rubio Ricky, Victor Claver, Marc Gasol, and Alberto Abalde.

Spain takes the lead in the first quarter, 21-19. Rubio dominated, scoring 13 points in the first 10 minutes.

The United States struggled to get ahead of Spain for most of the second quarter. However, the U.S. got two points ahead, 24-22. The game is tied up between the two countries at halftime, 43-43.

After halftime, the United States’ efforts were reinvigorated, outscoring Spain in the third quarter 26-20.

In the second half, Rubio continues to carry his team but falls short to the U.S. team in the final quarter, 26-18.

Final Score: 95-81

The United States now moves on to the semifinals.
