GALLIANO, La. (BRPROUD) — The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two people in connection to catalytic converter thefts in the area.
Deputies responded to a call regarding three vehicles that had their catalytic converters stolen overnight from a business in Galliano. The sheriff’s office believes the saw blades that were left at the scene were used during the crime.
Through an investigation, 39-year-old Corey Thomas and 35-year-old Reynell Gautreaux were identified as suspects. Deputies said Gautreaux was heading toward Larose and Thomas when she was found at a truck stop in Galliano. The sheriff’s office says that both suspects admitted they were involved in the theft. Deputies found tools associated with the theft in their possession. Detectives were also able to connect Gautreaux to another converter theft on Golden Meadow. Thomas allegedly had methamphetamine in his possession.
Both were arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. They are charged with three counts of theft, three counts of simple criminal damage to property, and possession of tools for a crime.
Gautreaux was charged with an additional count of theft and simple criminal damage to property for the theft in Golden Meadow. Thomas was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine.
