Ascension Parish government officials say flood debris removal to begin later next week

Louisiana News

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – Ascension Parish government officials say that DRC Emergency Services will begin removing construction and demolition debris from recent flooding later next week.

Debris removal depends on road accessibility.

Officials ask residents to start placing debris in the road and street rights-of-way for pickup.

Debris removal applies to construction debris, such as:

  • Building materials
  • Carpet
  • Drywall
  • Furniture
  • Lumber
  • Mattresses
  • Plumbing

Appliances will not be picked up. This applies to items such as freezers, refrigerators, washers and dryers.

Instead, officials say Ascension Parish residents can drop off these items at Ascension Parish Recycling Center at 42077 Churchpoint Road in Gonzales. Drop off is available Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ascension Parish residents must register for debris removal with Citizens Service Center by calling 225-450-1200.

If you’ve already reported structure flooding to www.damage.la.gov or to
the Citizens Service Center, then reregistration is not required.
