Two of Louisiana’s favorite athletes, both of whom wear No. 9 jerseys, met Sunday in New Orleans during the LSU Tigers’ final practice before they face Clemson at Monday’s National Championship game.
When LSU quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow met New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees for the first time, he told Brees that he’s responsible for making him a Saints fan.
“You were my idol growing up,” Burrow told Brees. “You were the reason I was a Saints fan.”
Burrow also got to meet his idol’s three sons, one of whom was wearing a Burrow jersey when they shook hands.
Brees met the rest of the LSU football team, including Head Coach Ed Orgeron, and helped them get pumped for the National Championship game.
