BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33)(FOX 44) – Another court date is set for the Livingston Parish couple accused of several sex crimes, including child rape.
Dennis and Cynthia Perkins appeared before a judge today for a motion hearing. Both the defense and the prosecution agreed that the discovery process was nearing an end, but more time is needed before they can establish a trial date.
Matthew Derbes, one of the prosecutors on the case, said the state is still waiting for the forensic lab to wrap up an investigation into a couple devices believed to be evidence. Both parties stated that the discovery process should be completed by the end of the month.
Dennis and Cynthia Perkins were arrested in October after the Attorney General’s Office received a tip that the couple was involved in producing child pornography. The two were arrested in October and eventually indicted with a combined 150 counts of child pornography, video voyeurism, and rape. If convicted the two face life in prison.
Judge Robert Morrison set another motions hearing for April 21.
