Louisiana man arrested after threatening to bomb a courthouse

MARKSVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Louisiana man is in custody after threatening to bomb a courthouse.

Authorities say they were alerted to the bomb threat on Tuesday, June 8 when an individual called in to 911 claiming he was “going to set off a bomb” at the Avoyelles Parish Courthouse in Marksville.

Investigation by the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) did not find any explosive devices at the scene.

Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) investigation revealed 44-year-old Michael Scott Dixon of Plaucheville as the 911 caller.

On Monday, June 14, he was arrested and booked in jail for the following charges:

  • One count of terrorizing
  • One count of communication a planned arson

State police say there is no further information at this time.
