LSP cancels Silver Alert, man found safe

AVONDALE, La. (BRPROUD) – Louisiana State Police cancels Silver Alert. Smith has been found safe.

ORIGINAL STORY:

AVONDALE, La. (BRPROUD) – 81-year-old Mr. Joe Smith has been missing since Monday, August 23.

A Silver Alert has been issued by the Louisiana State Police.

Smith lives near the Huey P. Long Bridge and LSP believes the 81-year-old “could be traveling in Ascension Parish.”

LSP is asking the public to be on the lookout for a red 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup.

Law enforcement believes that Smith could be in this truck that has a Louisiana handicap license plate with the number, H399604.

Louisiana State Police provided this information about the missing elderly man:

  • Approximately 5’10” tall
  • Weighs around 230 lbs.
  • Last seen wearing blue jeans and a black and white t-shirt

LSP states that “according to family members, Mr. Smith suffers from a condition that may impair his judgement.”

Members of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office are also searching for the Avondale native.
