Sen. Cassidy announces nearly $22 million for debris removal in New Orleans

Louisiana News

WASHINGTON D.C. (BRPROUD) — Senator Bill Cassidy has announced that FEMA will be granting the City of New Orleans $21,653,649 for Hurricane Ida debris removal.

According to a news release, the grant is reimbursement for the cost to remove 400,000 cubic yards of debris.

“This is the type of critical response Louisiana needs after a storm like Ida,” said Cassidy. “We cannot have a repeat of the year-long wait for relief Louisiana faced after Hurricane Laura. This is welcome aid.”
