MADISONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – Senator John Kennedy has asked FEMA for an extension of the Critical Needs Assistance (CNA) program as Louisiana residents continue storm recovery.
The deadline is set for Sept. 12.
The program provides individuals with food, water, medicine, fuel, and other necessary supplies as well as a one-time $500 payment per household.
“Without a deadline extension, residents will not be able to apply for and receive vital aid related to urgent needs as a result of Hurricane Ida—this includes financial assistance for food, water, medicines and temporary housing,” Kennedy wrote in a letter to FEMA Administrator Deanne Bennett Criswell.
