BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLA/WGMB) — Where would we be without our gals? Women everywhere are expected to step out this week to celebrate a relatively new phenomenon: National Galentine’s Day. The day, recognized on Feb. 13, is intended to celebrate the love women have for their female friends, single or not.
Galentine’s Day began in 2010 and was started by Leslie Knope of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.” Today, businesses throughout the Capital City are jumping onboard by hosting their own special events throughout Valentine’s week.
Today, Counterspace in Southdowns will host it’s 2nd annual Galentine’s Day event. From 7-9 p.m., guests may decorate cookies and arrange flowers all while mingling amongst “yummy sips and bites.” Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased through the Facebook event page.
On Feb. 13, more businesses across Baton Rouge get in on the fun including La Dermatology Laser and Cosmetic Center, 10154 Jefferson Hwy. From 3 to 5 p.m., attendees may enjoy complimentary sips and snacks while learning about some of the latest techniques in skincare and beauty. The first 15 guests receive a special event gift. Discounted pricing on services will also be provided. Admission is free and no RSVP is required.
The Downtown Business Association will host a Galentine’s Day Pub Crawl on Thursday. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with special drink prices at various downtown bars and restaurants, including Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar, Happy’s Downtown, Bengal Tap Room and Boudreaux and Thibodeaux’s. The Manship Theatre also has special discounted tickets for “Aquila Theatre Presents: 1984.” More information, including particular drink specials and how to purchase tickets to the theatre, can be found on the Facebook event page.
Leadership & Lattes networking group will host a Galentine Happy Hour from 5:30-7:30 p.m on Feb. 13 at Solera Bar & Tasting Room, 4205 Perkins Road. Guests are encouraged to RSVP at https://tinyurl.com/wmres5e. The event is free.
It’s date night with your gal pals and Power Pump Girls, Inc. at BLDG5, 2805 Kalurah Street on Feb. 13. From 6:30-9:30 p.m., guests may enjoy food, champs and Galentine-themed activities. Admission is $50, but if you bring your BFF, the two of you gain entry for $80. The first 20 ticketholders to check-in receive a free PPG tote.
From Feb. 13-15, I Do Bridal Couture will also put out special treats and offer mimosas for guests looking for the perfect wedding gown.
