Krewe of Denham Springs celebrates 40 years when they roll on Feb. 15

BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLA/WGMB) — The Krewe of Denham Springs celebrates 40 years in 2020 when it rolls on Saturday, Feb. 15. The theme is “Back to the 80’s.”

The parade begins at 3 p.m. at Denham Springs High school on Range Road and continues to Veterans Road. The signature throw for the 40th anniversary event is miniature king cakes from Kenner. Organizers say more than 2,200 will be given to parade attendees.

The grand marshal is hall of fame music inductee, Chase Tyler of Louisiana.

The 2020 king and queen are Raymond and Donna Nichols, who are current and past board members, respectively.

A variety of groups will have floats including, Denham Springs High school color guard, band and ROTC, Live Oak High school band and robotics float, “Denham Venom.” Attendees will also get the chance to see a Batman car and WWII vehicle.

Parade judges will award floats a variety of honors including best parade theme, most Mardi Gras spirit, best costumes and bigger is better.
