SHREVEPORT, La. (WDSU) — A Louisiana hospital celebrated the release of its youngest COVID-19 patient, an 11-year-old boy who was placed on a ventilator for a week.
Hospital staff celebrated 11-year-old Zykier Prim as he was being released from Willis-Knighton South Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.
“That’s one of the best parts of our jobs, getting to witness some of these amazing recoveries,” said Tiffany Willamson, a registered nurse at the hospital.
He was discharged on Thursday after being on a ventilator for seven days, according to the hospital.
“Any time we get a sick child who is on the verge of dying or has significant issues, it’s always gratifying to see them walk out and do well and be back with their family,” said Dr. Minh Q. Tran.
