1200 masks, thousands of groceries given away in Baker

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33/FOX 44) – Nearly 1,200 masks and groceries to more than 1500 people were given away Saturday in Baker.

It was a part of the city’s food and mask giveaway.

Mayor Darnell Waites and the Baker Food Bank were joined by Constable Tracy Baptiste, Senator Regina Barrow, Baker Councilwoman Glenda Bryant, Baker Police Chief and the Louisiana National Guard for the giveaway.

“During uncertain times like pandemics and storms we as leaders must be prepared and make speedy decisions to ensure the safety and health of our residents. While we adjust to the “new normal” we must always take care to help whenever and however we can” said Mayor Waites.
