18-year-old dies, 17-year-old injured in overnight shooting near Seigen Marketplace


BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An 18-year-old is dead and a 17-year-old is injured following an overnight shooting Saturday in the 7600 block of Andrea Drive in Baton Rouge.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Seigen Marketplace. Investigators believe the shooting originated from an unknown vehicle, and bullets struck two passengers in a pick-up truck, according to Baton Rouge Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Don Coppola Jr.

One passenger, 18-year-old Cailin Williams, died from gunshot wounds. The other passenger, a 17-year-old male, is in the hospital.

The driver, who was uninjured, drove the teens to a hospital.
