2018 Heart of Law Enforcement Awards honored multiple Louisiana officers

On Tuesday morning, Louisiana law enforcement officers were honored at the 2018 Heart of Law Enforcement Awards.

Catherine Childers of the Beyond the Badge said, the awards ceremony and luncheon recognized eleven officers from across Louisiana who were “nominated by their agencies or the public to receive a ‘Heart of Law Enforcement’ award.”

Childers said, the officers were recognized for acts of kindness outside of their normal work duties last year.

Officers from these departments were honored on Tuesday morning, 

  • Alexandria Police Department 
  • Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office 
  • Baton Rouge Police Department 
  • EBR Parish Sheriff’s Office 
  • Gonzales Police Department 
  • Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office
  • Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office
  • Zachary Police Department

Governor John Bel Edwards spoke briefly and Lt. General Russell Honoré gave the keynote speech.

Dignitaries who were scheduled to be at this event included, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, State Treasurer John Schroder, Agricultural Commissioner Mike Strain, Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, State Police Commander Kevin Reeves, area police chiefs and sheriffs.
