Local community activist, Emanuel ‘Boo Milton’, often uses his voice to tackle issues facing disenfranchised communities around Baton Rouge. With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic now impacting summer activities for kids, Milton is working to provide summer reading kits to keep kids engaged while at home.
“I plan to distribute 600 activity kits to children every two weeks this summer” said Milton. “Blessed to say we already have 700+ children signed-up!”
Milton is using the Juneteenth holiday to try to raise $20,000 in one day to help provide the kits.
Spark Box is a series of activity kits for ages 6-8 that allows kids to use their creativity to be innovative while understand the world around them. Milton’s goal is to be intentional about guiding each kid on their journey to become a better self , for themselves and the world they live in. Each box comes completely equipped with supplies such as crayons, a pencil, and other craft items to complete activities.
