55 million travelers expected to hit the road for the holidays


BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33)(FOX 44) – Millions of Americans are gearing up for holiday travels this season. The AAA predicts a small 3.2 percent increase in the number of commuters.

People flying in Louisiana will see a slight jump in the number of people catching a flight out of town. The New Orleans MSY is expecting to fly around 360,000 thousand passengers over a nine-day period. Meanwhile, the Baton Rouge Metro Airport is expecting about 20,000 flyers.

The AAA predicts 49. 3 million people will be on the road for the holiday commute, which is a 2.8 percent increase than last year.
