BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to an early morning house fire in the 1000 block of North Pamela Dr.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw that “the attic was fully engulfed in flames.”

One person was outside when firefighters arrived at the home.

Firefighters went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

It took firefighters almost 30 minutes to extinguish the fire.

BRPD said, “Firefighters were able to save nine dogs that were in the home.”

The home sustained $225,000 in damages and is considered a total loss.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “The resident stated she was watching television and a ceiling tile fell alerting her of the fire in the attic.”

No one was hurt in connection with this fire.

Investigators are still working to figure out what started the fire.

BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
