BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Every year on September 21, someone in the United States celebrates National Pecan Cookie Day.

Maybe even more than one person commemorates this odd holiday, which would be understandable as pecans make quite the ideal snack.

In addition to being packed with healthy things that our bodies need, such as calcium and magnesium, pecans have a naturally buttery flavor and a gentle crunch.

And when they’re included in a sweet and slightly crisp cookie- well, that’s just delicious.

That said, here in Louisiana, one of our favorite ways to enjoy the beloved pecan is to include it in a blend of sugar, heavy cream, and butter to create a rich and creamy batch of pralines.

So, if you’re not in the mood to celebrate National Pecan Cookie Day the traditional way this Wednesday, why not try a pecan praline instead?

People in Baton Rouge may be able to find pralines at the bakeries and eateries listed below, but it’s recommended that you call first to make sure pralines are in stock at the moment.
