New features added to Baton Rouge’s Longfellow Park will be unveiled Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at a celebration that will include family-friendly entertainment and food.
The celebration, the Lighting of the Oaks, will take place at Longfellow Park located at 5201 Longfellow Drive in Baton Rouge.
The celebration comes after AARP provided a public safety demonstration grant that allowed BREC to install permanent up-lighting to 15 live oak trees. The grant was also used to increase pedestrian lighting along the park’s walking trail, according to AARP Communications Director LaTonya Scott.
