Baton Rouge ranks close to the bottom of Louisiana’s safest cities, according to the National Council for Home Safety and Security.
An analysis by the organization found that Baton Rouge, with a population of approximately 224,790 residents, emerged at No. 23 on the list with a rate of 9.20 violent crimes per 1,000 citizens.
The Capital City also has a citizen-to-officer ratio of 3.54 per 1,000 people and a rate of 53.23 property crimes per 1,000 citizens.
According to NCHSS, the top 5 safest cities in Louisiana in order are: Mandeville, Covington, Minden, Gretna and Abbeville.
