Abraham unveils his first TV ad in Louisiana governor’s race

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) — A third major candidate for Louisiana governor is on the air with the first TV advertisement for his 2019 campaign.

Republican U.S. Rep. Ralph Abraham launched his first ad Monday. The 30-second spot shows the congressman and Air Force veteran in jeans and a military jacket, as narrators recite remark about his candidacy.

The soundbites aim to paint Abraham as an unknown-turned-Republican-favorite in the gubernatorial race. The commercial also portrays alliances with President Donald Trump.

The release ends speculation over when Abraham would launch a TV advertising blitz. His two main rivals, Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards and Republican businessman Eddie Rispone, hit the airwaves weeks ago.

Louisiana voters will select who they want for governor Oct. 12. If no candidate wins more than half of the vote, the top two vote-collectors will partake in a Nov. 16 runoff.
