BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A deputy with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was called to an accident around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29.

The accident involved a 2010 BMW and it took place in the 8000 block of Bluebonnet Blvd.

The driver of the BMW was identified as Richard Ware, 27, of Central.

The BMW was left with “severe damage to its front end,” according to the affidavit.

The ensuing investigation found that Ware was a convicted felon who had a warrant out for his arrest.

The warrant came from the Baton Rouge Police Department and it was “for Violation of Felon in Possession of a Firearm,” according to the affidavit.

Ware was arrested and the deputy then conducted a search of the suspect and BMW.

  • One plastic bag containing 4.2 grams of light brown, powdery substance suspected to be heroin
  • $160 cash

The Central man was convicted of crimes in 2016 and 2020.

Those convictions made it illegal for Ware to have a firearm.

The 27-year-old “admitted to purchasing the firearm from a friend whom he would not name,” according to the affidavit.

The Baker Police Department also had an active warrant for Richard Ware.

Ware was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with the crimes listed below:
