The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging announced the upcoming opening of another Drive-Thru Lotus Food Pantry that will be available for all seniors in East Baton Rouge Parish while supplies last.
It will open Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Louisiana Leadership Institute, located at 5763 Hooper Road.
Seniors seeking to utilize the service are instructed to pop their trunks once they reach the building so EBRCOA members can put groceries, lunch and supplies into their vehicles, according to EBRCOA Marketing Manager Angell Jackson.
EBRCOA will distribute groceries, fruit and vegetables, milk, hand sanitizer, toilet paper and masks, Jackson wrote.
“The success of previous food distribution events proves just how great the need is for the elderly,” EBRCOA CEO Tasha Clark-Amar said. “We are hosting the various events across the parish to meet this astronomical demand and serve seniors in every corner of this parish.”
