The 2020 American Cancer Society Celebrity Waiter of West Baton Rouge Event raised nearly $100k

This year’s Celebrity Waiter of West Baton Rouge had more than 450 guests and raised nearly $100k to support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission.

“We are blown away by the success of this event,” said Committee Member Bridget Easley. “We topped last year’s total by more than $25,000. My brother, Blaine Rabalais, and I are very passionate about this event, as our father, Danny, and dear friend and fellow committee member, Kimberly Bryant, are both cancer survivors.”

19 teams of celebrity waiters dressed as characters from popular movies including Pirates of the Caribbean, Scooby Doo, and Grease. The teams served dinner and entertained the guests for tips. The top waiters were teammates Scott Innes and Jeremy Thompson, who raised a total of $19,153.

“Jeremy and I are very humbled to be a part of Celebrity Waiter of West Baton Rouge,” said Scott Innes, Celebrity Waiter top fundraiser. “I love the West Side. I live in Prairieville now, but I still cross this bridge to help out because I love this community. It really makes me feel great that people still care enough to give. Cancer has affected so many people in our lives and this event proves 100 percent that people are givers. We’re excited, we’re glad we won, and we’ll be back next year!”

All proceeds raised at the event allow the American Cancer Society to continue to fight for a world free of cancer. From breakthrough research to lodging and free rides to treatment, the American Cancer Society is committed to attacking cancer from every angle.

“This event has always been an important cause to us,” said long-time volunteer and Port Allen Elementary Assistant Principal, Kelly Stein. “It became even more important when I lost a very close friend who was part of the Relay For Life of West Baton Rouge. So, in her honor, I continue giving everything I can to this organization that helped her family and will continue to help others like her.”

This year’s celebrity waiter teams included: Dylan Bagwell; Lee and Clare Berthelot; Barbara Burke; Christopher Butler; Nicholas Cicero; Tony Clayton; Justin and Melanie Clouatre; Blake Fourroux; Jamie Hanks; Scott Innes and Jeremy Thompson; Rhonda Kelley; Caleb Kleinpeter; Richard Lee; Shawn Loachridge; Billi Romero; Ryder Simoneaux; Rick Ward; Sheri Weems and Tiffeny Wycoskie.

The committee would also like to thank several sponsors who helped make the event a success including Presenting Sponsor Tony Clayton; Placid Refining Company; and Beard Construction Group.
