BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – There are 53 days until Christmas and that means songs on the radio and buying presents for the kids.

Not everyone can afford toys this time of year and one local leader is doing something about that.

Councilwoman Erika L. Green is working with the Charles R. Kelly Community Center to help those families celebrate the holidays through Toys for Tots.

Between now and November 12, head to the Charles R. Kelly Community Center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

All you have to do is drop by 3535 Riley St. with these items and fill out an application:

  • Picture ID
  • Proof of Income
  • Proof of Residency
  • Child’s SS Card
  • SNAP Budget Slip

The City of Baton Rouge is also providing information about their Angel Adoption Day on November 15.

On that day, “businesses, organizations and individuals can share in the holiday spirit and adopt an angel or family of angels,” according to the City of Baton Rouge.
