PIERRE PART, La. (BRPROUD) – The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was recently asked to investigate an alleged domestic disturbance in Belle River.

The investigation ended with the arrest of Phillip Mems Edwards III, 38, of White Castle.

On September 8, deputies “made contact with the victim who advised that she was a passenger in the suspect’s vehicle when an argument erupted,” according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The victim accused Edwards, III of becoming violent during the argument.

APSO said Edwards III allegedly hit the victim multiple times.

As the investigation unfolded, deputies did see that the victim sustained injuries.

Edwards III was not at the scene when deputies arrived and a search commenced for the suspect.

The White Castle man was arrested on Friday, September 9 by the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was subsequently taken to the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

Edwards III was charged with the crimes listed below:

  • Second Degree Battery
  • Battery of a Dating Partner

Phillip Mems Edwards, III was let out of jail after posting bond.
