ADDIS, La. (BRPROUD) – The Addis Police Department was called to a reported shooting a little after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 16.
Officers arrived at Bradley Ct. and Karen Dr. and found a victim.
According to the Addis Police Department, the victim had fallen to the ground as five shots were fired by the suspect in this shooting, 19-year-old, Shannon Osborne Jr.
The victim was not hurt during the shooting.
After arriving at the scene, officers located five bullet casings and someone fitting the description of the suspect.
The suspect was questioned by police and at some point attempted to run away.
A taser was used to stop Shannon Osborne Jr..
A search of the suspect uncovered these items:
- Stolen Firearm
- Counterfeit money
Addis PD confirms that the weapon was missing five bullets from its magazine.
The shooting victim in this case cooperated with officers.
Chief Anderson said, “it seemed to be a drug deal gone bad and the victim claimed the marijuana is fake.”
The crime lab has yet to determine whether the marijuana was fake or not.
Addis PD says the victim did use counterfeit 20’s to pay for the marijuana.
Shannon Osborne Jr. was arrested and is facing these charges:
- Attempted 2nd Degree Murder
- Illegal Carrying of a Firearm
- Possession of Stolen Firearm
- Damage to property
Osborne Jr is currently in the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail and no bond has been set at this time.
After cooperating with officers, the victim was released.
