BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a blaze just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15.

The blaze was at a vacant home in the 1300 block of N. Acadian Thruway.

“Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the vacant house fully engulfed in flames and beginning to spread to the neighboring home,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

BRFD went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

“Crews began to protect the adjacent home while other crews entered the vacant house to put the fire out,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in around 30 minutes.

The vacant home sustained $60,000 in damages and is considered a total loss.

Fire investigators concluded that arson was the cause of the fire.

BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
