Arts Council selling masks to benefit local arts organizations

News

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is selling custom-made cloth masks to businesses to help support arts organizations across the 11 parish area the council serves.

The Arts Council will be making masks for businesses planning to re-open during Phase One in Louisiana. Proceeds from the masks will go to several groups, with special focus paid to performing arts non-profit organizations who had to cancel or postpone performances due to Covid-19.

The non-profit organizations will produce the masks based on a template provided by the Arts Council.

The initiative is an expansion of the Sewing Safe Project which was originally created by the Arts Council to support hospitals in need of nurses’ surgical gowns.

That project has delivered more than 1,400 gowns to Baton Rouge General and Woman’s Hospital.
