Artsplosion Kids Camp

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – On Friday, the Artsplosion! Kids Camp comes to an end.

Some students in Kindergarten through 5th grade are spending this week at the Jewel J. Newman Community Center.

The free camp is taking place with the help of The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.

Event organizers say that “a critical part of the week long summer camp is an educational focus on cardiovascular health and nutrition presented in a fun, non-competitive, physical education class.”

Students are enjoying these experiences:

  • Painting art
  • Dance
  • Music
  • Poetry classes

On Friday, a showcase is taking place at the community center where family and community members can learn about what the students did this week.

Visual artwork “created by participants and will be exhibited as semi-permanent installations along the Scotlandville heArt Trail walking trail,” according to event organizers.
