DONALDSONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – This September, a family-friendly event designed to support a good cause is bringing food, games, and fun to Ascension Parish.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting an exciting three-on-three basketball tournament for teens and a car show/contest at Donaldsonville’s WAG Center (1201 Maginnis Street Donaldsonville, LA 70316), Saturday, September 17.

The event is free to the public and will help to raise money for the South Louisiana Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, as of Tuesday (September 6), the basketball tournament still has room for five, three-person teams of youths between the ages of 13-17.

Teens who sign up to play don’t need to worry about paying fees as these have been covered by the game’s two sponsors, CF Industries and Oatis Janitorial Services.

And the fun doesn’t end with the basketball game.

Locals are also invited to showcase their cars, trucks, and motorcycles during the car show/contest. Anyone interested simply needs to contact Lt. Mike Brooks by phone at (225) 621-8851 (or by email at mbrooks@ascensionsheriff.com) and pay a $25 donation fee.
