Ascension Parish COVID-19 testing site to reopen following brief closure brought on by storm

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Ascension Parish’s COVID-19 testing site will reopen Tuesday following a temporary closure brought on by Tropical Depression Cristobal.

The site, located at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, will be open through Friday from 8 a.m. until noon. It will open again on Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16 from 8 a.m. until noon. Those days will be the last days the site will be open, according to the parish’s communications office.

The site offers a drive-thru test consisting of a self-administered nasal swab. A doctor’s order is not required to utilize the site, but people seeking a test must be at least 18 and have a Louisiana ID.
