NAPOLEONVILLE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) –

The Assumption Parish Water Patrol Unit now has a new tool at their disposal in the fight against crime.

If you are a boater in Assumption Parish there is a good chance you will see the new APSO Waverunner personal watercraft.

The Assumption Parish Water Patrol Unit said they received the Waverunner” as part of the Yamaha company’s Law Enforcement Loan Program.”

The owner of New Orleans and Lafayette Powersports also played a part in this agreement.

APSO said, “the personal watercraft will allow officers to more closely patrol during events on our lakes and will allow them to get into shallow water areas if needed.”

Other benefits that the Waverunner personal watercraft provides include:

  • Faster response times
  • Reduction in fuel costs

The new Waverunner joins the Assumption Parish Water Patrol Unit’s fleet of boats.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said that the boats “are used for patrolling, search and rescue, special events, and for particularly busy holiday weekends.”
