BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Attorney Gordon McKernan decided to hand out over 430 bikes to help provide an opportunity for those in need this Christmas season.

“Just about a childhood memory I had when I got a bike and how much it meant to me,” says Attorney Gordan McKernan. Having his annual bike giveaway, gave parents and loved ones a chance to experience the same childhood memory as McKernan.

25,000 people submitted for Gordon’s Bike giveaway this year. Over 400 people across seven cities in Louisiana were chosen. Protection, including helmets and knee pads, were donated by Dr. Tom Rathmann with Rathmann Chiropractic Clinic.

One of the winners at the giveaway, Abigail Whittam, was picking out a bike for the girl she babysits. “Having an event like this is really awesome to see the community give back,” said Whittam. “A special thanks to Gordon because I know that brings holiday cheer for a lot of families and children that may not have the opportunity or money to get a bike.”

“Knowing that we’re able to take a burden off those families means everything to us, especially with the higher cost due to inflation,” said Gordon McKernan.

McKernan’s bike giveaway gave Kathryn Voisin and her granddaughter Kyree, a chance to unwrap a bike under the Christmas Tree this year.

Voisin expressed great gratitude towards McKernan and his team. “Just a big thank you, and it’s a blessing to receive a gift like this during Christmas,” she said.
