BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — We are four days away from the new year, and Baton Rouge bars are preparing for the crowds.

“It’s been a rough last few years. So everybody is looking forward to the new year and what it can bring,” stated Randy Wesley, owner of Pastime.

Wesley says he is already preparing for people to come to his bar to pre-party, on New Year’s Eve for food and drinks. “People will come here and have the boudin pizza, they’ll come to eat that, they’ll enjoy that, and they hold out a little longer and it helps them to not get so happy through the night,” he continued.

Pastime will not be extending its hours for New Year’s Eve, but there’s plenty to do throughout the Parish of East Baton Rouge. “There are all sorts of events that are going to be going on throughout the day, especially after it gets dark. It’s a tradition every single year where we drop that red stick at midnight and we’re looking forward to doing it again,” emphasized Mark Armstrong, Chief Communications Officer for Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome.

The parish will have live music from the band Phat Hat, following the countdown to the New Year’s firework show. For more information, visit here.
