BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Metro Airport (BTR) announced Wednesday (October 12) that it intends to partner with a Colorado-based company in hopes of expanding its Aviation Business Park.

The company BTR plans to collaborate with, Burrell Aviation, LLC, will lease 53 acres of runway-accessible land on BTR property, advertise the land, and secure tenants while also solidifying plans for facilities and infrastructure.

BTR says Burrell Aviation will lease the property for a primary term of 30 years, with two 10-year options to renew.

According to Mike Edwards, BTR’s Director of Aviation, the partnership is expected to “lead to area job growth and more economic output in the Baton Rouge area.”

BTR currently provides Louisiana with an economic impact of $1.1 billion annually, as well as more than 4,500 direct and indirect jobs in the capital area.
