BATON ROUGE, La. (BrProud) — Elite Sports BR and CareSouth Medical and Dental will host PROM ON THE GEAUX for East Baton Rouge Parish high school senior who missed prom due to the COVID-19 pandemic. PROM ON THE GEAUX will provide free prom photos to capture the special moment at the Louisiana State Capitol on Aug. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m.
“I wanted to ensure that the prom memory wasn’t lost for 2020. We are calling all 2020 seniors in and around EBR Parish to take out those dresses, suits, and tuxedos, and not allow them to go to waste,” said Darryl Hurst, director of Elite Sports. “One of the biggest losses this year for seniors won’t come until five or ten years down the road when they won’t have the ability to look back on their senior prom and see how much they have changed.”
The event seeks to give high school seniors a moment to remember from their senior year, despite COVID-19 cutting it short. Students will be allowed the opportunity to capture the moment with their friends and dates.
“We’re excited to offer this opportunity for our recent high school graduates to capture this momentous milestone in their lives,” said Matthew Valliere, CareSouth CEO. “It’s something they will always remember.”
While adhering to social distancing guidelines, the “red carpet” will be rolled out for the students. Three local professional photographers have donated their services for the event. According to Elite Sports BR, four people are allowed in each photo, and ten-minute increments will be set up. A prize for the most creative face mask or covering will be awarded.
Students must register for a time-slot by July 31. For more information and to register, please visit www.promonthegeaux.com.
