BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) A young girl who lost her battle with brain cancer continues to give back.

The Bella Bowman Foundation of Baton Rouge hosted their annual Enchanted Luncheon to share courage, belief, and strength with others. The royal celebration featured princesses, superheroes, an exclusive performance by Theatre Baton Rouge and the LSU Golden Girls.

“She really helped us learn how much it means to help others in need, so this is why we created it soon after she passed away in 2011,” Kim Bowman said.

The foundation supports research for pediatric brain cancer and offers comfort for others going through a similar pain they suffered eight years ago with their daughter Bella.

In 2011 Trey and Kim Bowman were given the news that their 7-year-old daughter Bella was diagnosed with a brain tumor that would eventually take her life.

The event not only brings awareness but also celebrates what would have been Bella’s 16th birthday.

The foundation is run completely by volunteer work. “If it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t be who we are,” Trey Bowman said.

“Our daughter taught us courage, belief, faith and strength, and we just want to give that to others to learn,” Kim Bowman said.
