As panic and fear of the unknown continue to spread over COVID-19, scammers are using this time to prey on others.
The Better Business Bureau of Baton Rouge is warning people about a fake coronavirus stimulus check scam.
Using emails, text messages and phone calls scammers are now trying to gain access to your personal information and leaving many to believe that they have their stimulus check ready for them.
Carmen Million, President of the Better Business Bureau of South Central Louisiana says people need to know that the stimulus checks will come through direct deposit using the 2018 federal tax income information. If that has since changed, or you do not have direct deposit, your check would arrive in the mail.
