Baton Rouge Community College invites high school girls to attend forensics-focused STEM event in April

The STEM division at Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) will host its third Future Ladies in STEM event, The Forensic Experience, on Friday April 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

According to BRCC, the event is designed to let many as 100 students engage in different areas of science in focused sessions. The event is open to all Louisiana high school girls. The event is sponsored by BRCC, the Department of Education, and the Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program grant.

“During the Forensic Experience, Future Ladies will conduct DNA analyses, read fingerprints, learn chemistry related to Blood ID, and participate in round-table discussions with BRCC faculty and students,” a recent BRCC press release stated.

High school teachers are encouraged to bring field trips to this event, the deadline to register is March 11. Lunch will be provided. For more information, please contact Dr. Mary Miller at millerm2@mybrcc.edu.
