Two adults and four children safely escaped a house fire on Rampart Court in Baton Rouge just after 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.

It took the St. George Fire Department about 30 minutes to control the blaze, which burned most of the house and caused a large section of the roof to collapse, according to Eldon R. Ledoux, the department’s public information officer.

The fire began in the engine of a vehicle parked beneath the house’s carport, and the fire affected two other vehicles, Ledoux wrote.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
