BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33)(FOX 44) – You may not get the chance to see live music in person for a while, but the next best thing, is just a key stroke away.
“We are proud to partner with baton rouge general to put on a music concert virtually of course with great local artists,” Renee Chatelain, President/CEO, Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge says.
Baton Rouge General Hospital teamed up with the Arts Council to bring relief to the people on the front lines of COVID-19 and the ones who are staying home to flatten the curve. Instead of sending well wishes or cards for support, the two organizations put together a concert.
You can find this concert on Facebook under the name Music is Medicine, but the goal isn’t just for entertainment. During each performance, a donate button will appear at the bottom of the screen. Any money you decide to give, will go to healthcare workers and local artists too.
Derek Shipley, from Parish County Line will be one of the familiar faces you’ll see during this concert. Because of the outbreak, Shipley and his band missed out on more than 15 festival performances. Shipely says donations from the virtual concert is a huge help during this time period, but he’s just happy to bring some relief.
“This is a great way to help out our healthcare workers who are out fighting everyday,” Shipley says.
