BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – EMS week is over but that did not stop one local hospital from honoring first responders over the weekend.

On Saturday, May 22, Baton Rouge General held a Jambalaya Cookoff at the Bluebonnet campus.

Seven teams took part in the Jambalaya cookoff.

First responders were then invited to get free jambalaya at “BRG’s emergency rooms – Bluebonnet, Mid City or Ascension.”

“The EMS community has not only supported our team more than ever this past year, but they have worked tirelessly to care for our community,” said Marsha Bond, RN, director of emergency services at BRG. “Our annual jambalaya cookoff is one small way we can say ‘thank you’.”

In case you were wondering, the St. George Fire Department won the cookoff.
